Chapter 13: Professor
Professor Xie had long passed the 60 years mark and naturally, he had a higher seniority than Ning Zhong Guo.
Of
course, Ning Zhong Guo did not dare to act big in front of him and immediately
rose to shake his hand.
After
exchanging a few pleasantries, Ning Zhong Guo invited Professor Xie to sit
down.
At
this time, professor Xie noticed Chen Xi who was at the side.
Since
Chen Xi was still quite young, the old dude thought that he belonged to the
younger generation of the Ning family and thus, he doubtfully asked, “This is?”
Ning
Zhong Guo chuckled, “This is my friend and he has medical expertise. If
professor Xie does not mind, you can, perhaps, converse with him regarding some
medical experiences.”
“Oh,
hello.”
Professor
nodded his head as he guessed that Chen Xi could be a student who majored in
Medicine. Since the student knew that he was going to come, the student would
then wait for him before he arrived.
Regarding
this kind of situation, Professor Xie had seen quite a lot of it and thus, he
did not find it strange.
Naturally,
Chen Xi did not know what professor Xie was thinking.
When
he saw professor Xie nodding in his direction, Chen Xi bowed slightly out of
courtesy.
Meanwhile,
Ning Zhong Guo glanced at the 2 individuals behind Ning Qiu Tong.
Behind
Ning Qiu Tong was a man and a woman.
The
man was around the same age as Ning Zhong Guo. He was Ning Zhong Ping, Ning Qiu
Tong’s second uncle.
After
having a casual talk with Ning Zhong Guo, Nong Zhong Ping did not say anything
else.
From
his actions and words, one could tell that he was serving in the army.
As
for the last woman, she looked youthful, roughly about 23 years old.
This
woman was extremely gorgeous, her appearance has a 70% to 80% resemblance to
Ning Qiu Tong.
Her
temperament was pure and cold while her body emitted out a refreshing feeling,
like a snow lotus on the top of a mountain.
When
she stood side by side with Ning Qiu Tong, the two of them formed a distinct
pair.
One
was warm like fire while the other was cold like ice.
She
was Ning Qiu Tong’s sister, Ning Qin Xue.
After
he welcomed his younger brother, Ning Zhong Guo then looked at his
‘seldom-home’ second daughter and complained, “Qing Xue, you are just this
close to becoming a rare guest. I’m afraid that the number of times your second
uncle comes back are already more than yours.”
Hearing
it, Ning Qing Xue helplessly explained, “Dad, you know that my work is so
hectic recently. I’m not like big sis who can just be a boss and shake her
legs…”
“Hey,
if you think that this shake leg boss is so easy to be, then why don’t you try.
I’ll change jobs with you, do you dare?”
Ning
Qiu Tong joked around with her sister, but all she got back was Nign Qing Xue
rolling her eyes
Initially,
Chen Xi sat in the middle of the sofa. However, as each of the family members
sat down accordingly, Chen Xi consciously moved to the other end of the sofa,
putting some distance between each other.
This
made him seemed inharmonious with other people.
From
the start since she entered the house, Ning Qiu Tong did not even glance
straight at Chen Xi. However, she was always monitoring him from the dark.
She
was waiting.
Waiting
for this swindler to retreat in defeat.
However,
after waiting for quite awhile, even when Ning Zhong Guo and professor Xie had
exchanged greetings, Chen Xi still remained seated.
Hence,
Ning Qiu Tong became mad.
Since
this swindler was this audacious and shady, then she shall not hold back
anymore!
Upon
thinking up till this point, Ning Qiu Tong bent down and whispered to professor
Xie.
After
listening to it, his expression could not help but change despite his strong
self-restraint. He then solemnly asked Ning Qiu Tong, “Really?”
Upon
seeing that Ning Qiu Tong was certain about it, professor Xie turned his head
and carefully sized up Chen Xi.
He
did not dare to fully believe what Ning Qiu Tong just said.
Are
medical swindlers this unbridled and rampant now?
To
a rich family like the Ning family, 100,000¥ is like nothing to them.
However,
if the victims are normal civilians, won’t their entire life savings that were
used for saving a life be cheated away so easily?
If
they even dare to cheat people’s life money, then what other stuff won’t these
insane medical swindler dare not do?
This
kind of vicious act is more cruel than killing!
I
have to expose him!
Professor
Xie then put on a heavy look and seriously asked Ning Zhong Guo, “Mr Ning, I
heard from Qiu Tong that you are not feel well recently?”
“Aye…It’s
just some old illness, I got it when I was young. I have always felt quite
uncomfortable, however, it just got more serious recently. Maybe it’s because
of old age…”
“Mind
if I measure your pulse?”
“Please
do. Sorry to trouble you,” Ning Zhong Guo nodded his head and politely said.
Chen
Xi’s judgement was spot on.
The
reason why Ning Zhong Guo could not live beyond 50 was because he suffered an
extremely serious internal injury 5 years ago.
After
the injury, Ning Zhong Guo went to consult several hospitals, including both
Chinese and Western medicine. He went for numerous CT scan for his chest, yet
no hospitals could cure his internal injury.
What
made it even more ridiculous was that several hospitals could not tell whether
he did suffer an injury or not.
These
findings eventually discouraged him, as he knew that he did not have much time
left.
Internal
injury was not an illness. Illnesses could be treated, but injuries could only
heal.
As
the days gone by, his condition worsened. At the peak of the injury, Ning Zhong
Guo could not even walk.
After
some time, Ning Zhong Guo finally found a hidden cultivator that was only told
of in the legends, and from that hidden cultivator, he acquired a godly pill
that claimed to be able to extend one’s life.
Initially,
Ning Zhong Guo did not believe these kind of mysterious legends, thinking that
the other party was a swindler.
However,
only after swallowing the pill did he realise that it was truly effective.
Ning
Zhong Guo thought that he was finally saved and was extremely elated.
Unfortunately,
the hidden cultivator regretfully told him that, in this world, there existed
no such pill that could save a person near death’s door.
As
for Ning Zhong Guo, he was already a person near death’s door.
Although
that mysterious pill was able to make him walk and function like a normal
human, it could not heal the root of his injury.
Disheartened,
Ning Zhong Guo returned back to Zhong Hai and started to prepare his will, and
it was during the time when Ning Qiu Tong took over his position.
He
did not know old long he could live for.
In
order not to let his daughter worried for him, Ning Zhong Guo decided not to
tell her the truth.
The
reason why he would choose to believe Chen Xi was because Chen Xi hit the jackpot
of not living past 50.
After
all, without that pill, he would have taken his last breath with regrets at a
tender age of 49. How could he then possibly live until today?
At
the same time, his reason for not believing Chen Xi was very simple.
It
was because that hidden cultivator once said…
No
one in this world could heal his wounds.
In
addition, Chen Xi was just a young man without any persuasive powers. Hence,
his intuition told him not to trust this young man.
However,
this life is his. As long as there is a chance to live, he will take it.
When
he saw Ning Qiu Tong bringing professor Xie to visit him, Ning Zhong Guo was
initially bewildered, but he quickly recovered from it.
In
his heart, professor Xie could not compare to the hidden cultivator that
offered him the mysterious pill, even if professor Xie’s medical reputation was
renowned domestically.
Since
his daughter, out of good will, brought the old professor to cure his illness,
naturally, he could not turn them down.
However,
this will somewhat embarrassed that young man…
Thinking
up to here, Ning Zhong Guo could not help but glance at Chen Xi.
However,
the sight before him gave him quite a surprise. That young man that was
targeted by his daughter was able to remain calm in this type of situation, as
he sat steadily on the sofa, as if his surroundings had nothing to do with him.
Just
this level of self-restraint was able to make Ning Zhong Guo respect him more.
The
hall was slightly quiet as everyone waited for professor Xie to conclude.
After
a while, professor Xie finally retrieved his hand and frowned as he said to
himself, “If the veins are extremely straight, then it’s a sign of liver
disease. If one feels giddy, then it’s a sign of heart disease. If there is a
sharp pain, then it’s a sign of lungs disease. If the pain is in succession,
then it’s a sign of kidney problems. If the pain is heavy and slow, then it’s a
sign of spleen problems…”
“Mr
Ning, your pulse is very strange. At times, it is totally chaotic while at
other times, it is totally normal…”
